Popular Interior Paint Colors for 2022

Ready to paint a room or three this winter?

If you’ve been hunting for inspiration, we have good news! This is the time of year when the major paint manufacturers and color pros all forecast anticipated color trends. Maybe they become self-fulfilling prophecies, but either way, we love to see what’s on the horizon, and line it up with what we see ourselves as a boots-on-the-ground professional painting company.

Here’s a peek at the trends!

Are White and Grey Paint Colors Still Popular?

Let’s kick things off with this important question. White and grey interior paint are perennial favorites, offering endless versatility. And with nearly limitless options for different hues, shades, and tones, you can definitely find the right fit for your home. So yes, white and grey are still in, but they aren’t the leading colors anymore.

Earthy Paint Colors Are Leading the Way

Neutrals have been wildly popular the last couple of years, but we’re seeing a shift toward more decisive color choices. While some bold options are in (like Sherwin-Williams’ Urbane Bronze), we’re now seeing softer, more natural colors with earth tones.

As a case in point, Sherwin-Williams just announced their Color of the Year for 2022: Evergreen Fog. With a sagey (is that a word?), misty vibe, it offers a really nice, inviting aesthetic. It has an almost colonial look, doesn’t it?

Or, take a look at Art and Craft by Dunn-Edwards.

How about October Mist by Benjamin Moore?

You’re probably seeing the trend emerging here. There’s a lot to choose from still, but we’re honestly loving these colors. As an extra benefit, earthy colors (green in particular) have been shown to promote a feeling of calm and wellbeing. Perfect for your home!
