To protect and maintain your newly coated floor, please follow these guidelines for the first 48 hours and beyond.
Immediately After Installation
Curing Time
- Avoid walking on the floor for 6–8 hours.
- Do not park vehicles or move items back into the garage for 36–48 hours to allow the coating to fully cure.
Protecting Your Floor
- If the coating has been applied to the area where the garage door meets the floor, it is crucial to keep the garage door slightly open during the curing process to prevent contact that could damage the finish.
- To protect the entrance during curing, we can provide a tarp that can be taped securely to the garage opening without affecting the coating. This will help safeguard the space from debris, critters, and environmental factors. Please let our crew know if you would like a tarp provided.
- Ensure there is at least 2 inches of clearance beneath wall-mounted shelves or other items. Shelves and their contents can remain in place, but we recommend covering them with tarps to prevent dust or debris from settling on the freshly coated floor.
Ventilation and Humidity Control
Ventilation
- Open the garage door slightly to allow airflow and balance indoor and outdoor air pressure.
- If applicable, open any nearby windows to aid in ventilation.
Avoid Moisture
- Avoid parking vehicles that have been exposed to snow or rain on the newly coated surface. Moisture can compromise the coating's integrity during curing.
Ongoing Maintenance
General Care
- Sweep off debris such as sand or salt and rinse with water as needed. A squeegee works well to clear excess water.
- For regular cleaning, use your favorite floor cleaner. We recommend Simple Green, Pine-Sol, CLR, Dawn, or Mineral Spirits. Avoid long-term exposure to bleach and do not use acids or highly corrosive materials.
Deep Cleaning
- For tough stains, let the cleaner sit for 5–10 minutes, then scrub with a stiff bristle broom or scrub brush. Rinse thoroughly for a revitalized look.
