How Do You Paint Kitchen Cabinets?
Every kitchen is unique, but our process is dialed in, consistent, and designed to perform. Here’s what you can expect:
Clear Proposal
Communication is everything. After we meet with you, inspect your kitchen, and take measurements, we’ll provide you with a comprehensive estimate. No fuzzy details or ballpark figures.
Containment
When we start, we essentially convert your kitchen to be like a “spray booth.” This includes masking off the kitchen with masking paper and plastic sheathing to protect adjacent rooms and surfaces.
Deep Clean
This includes not only cleaning the cabinets, but also sanding them down to remove any lingering residue, previous finishes, etc.
Disassembly
The doors and drawer faces are removed, and we set them up in another room, garage, basement, or sometimes a tent we set up outside.
Time to Prime
We spray apply our first coat of stain-blocking primer. This builds a strong, receptive surface for the topcoats to grip onto, plus helps prevent any wood grain from bleeding through your paint. Sand, Paint, and Sand
Surface preparation is everything! When the primer coat is dry we’ll sand the surface again, apply the first coat of paint, sand, then apply the second topcoat. We use an acrylic urethane product specially designed for maximum adhesion and durability on your kitchen cabinets.
Reinstallation and Touch-Ups
Last but not least, we’ll go ahead and reinstall your cabinets doors and drawer faces. After any final touch-ups that might be needed, we’re ready for a final walkthrough together to make sure you’re absolutely thrilled with the results.
