To ensure a smooth and efficient painting process, please review and complete the following steps prior to and during the project.
Before the Project
Submit Colors
- Email all chosen paint colors to Liane at liane@agwilliamspainting.com before the project starts.
- Need help choosing a color? Work with your sales representative and Liane to schedule a free color consultation with Sherwin-Williams.
Electronics and Wiring
- Disconnect all wiring from computers, TVs, stereos, and other electronics.
- Reconnection of electronics is the client’s responsibility.
- Remove wall-mounted TVs from their brackets before our arrival.
Wall and Surface Items
- Use sticky notes to mark holes you’d like patched.
- Remove and store all items from walls in areas to be painted.
- Clear counters, tables, dressers, and shelves of all items.
- Empty closets if they are to be painted.
- For pictures and wall hangings:
- If leaving hardware in place: Remove pictures but leave hardware on the wall.
- If relocating: Remove both pictures and hardware to indicate holes that need patching.
Cabinetry and Furniture
- Remove contents from cabinetry that will be painted.
- Secure or relocate large furniture items, such as grandfather clocks or pianos, from the painting area.
Draperies and Curtains
- Take down curtains, draperies, and other window treatments before our arrival.
Pets and Comfort
- Arrange to secure or remove pets from the job site during the project.
- While we always opt to use low and non-VOC paints, if you or anyone in your household is sensitive to odors—or if someone is pregnant—consider staying away from the job site for the duration of the project.
Contact Information
- Provide a phone number or other contact details where you can be reached during the project.
Document Existing Damage
- Inform the crew leader of any broken or damaged items before work begins.
- Notify the crew of any broken glass or damaged furniture near the work area.
During the Project
Walkthroughs
- Perform a walkthrough with the crew leader at the start of the project and on the last day to ensure expectations are met.
Painted Surfaces
- Allow freshly painted window sashes to dry:
- 4 hours for standard paint.
- 8 hours for oil-based paint.
