Exploring the Interior Paint Color Trends of 2015

In many ways, turning the corner into a new year acts like a reset button. We enjoy the thrill of tearing down old calendars and putting up new ones; a visual reminder that we’re starting fresh and that there are limitless possibilities for those 365 unmarked squares.

In the world of professional painting, this is also an exciting time. Sure, we enjoy switching out our calendars too, but we also get to look ahead a bit and project what colors and styles are going to be the most popular.

With that in mind, we thought we’d share a couple interior paint colors that are taking the throne as kings of 2015’s anticipated color trends.

Grey: The Strong, Silent Type

According to both Sherwin Williams and the Paint Quality Institute, the color to watch this year is grey. Now, we know what you might be thinking.

Grey? Really?

Yes, really. It’s an understated color, but it exudes class and sophistication. And, as an added strength, you can dress it up or down depending on your own stylistic goals. It has broad enough shoulders to support accent colors and decorations that range from dark and brooding to bright and wild.

Go Green!

According to Benjamin Moore, the heavy-hitter this year is going to be a pale, friendly green. Specifically, they propose their own Guilford Green. Regardless of the brand you choose, the principle is the same: it’s a light, soft color that is unique but also versatile.

What’s the Common Denominator Between These Paint Colors?

If we had to boil down the attributes of these two colors and find a common link, we would say that it is the fact that they both offer versatility and possibility. They play well with many other colors, leaving the options open for you to customize your space completely based on your own taste, not what the colors dictate.
