A.G. Williams Wins 2025 Small Business Award

We’re thrilled to announce that A.G. Williams Painting Company has been named the recipient of the 2025 Small Business Success Award by the Westchester Business Hall of Fame. The award was presented on April 29 at Glen Island Harbour Club in New Rochelle, and it’s an incredible honor that we’re proud to share with our entire team, our loyal clients, and the communities we serve.

We were also honored to be a part of the Council’s podcast:

This award means so much to us—not just because it recognizes business success, but because it reflects over a century of hard work, resilience, and a commitment to values that have remained steady since our founding in 1906.

A Legacy of Family, Built to Last

We’re a family business through and through. Arthur G. Williams, founded A.G. Williams Painting Company in New York City, and today, the company is led by George Williams (President & CEO), and Arthur Williams (Co-President & COO). Together, they represent the third generation of Williams family leadership.

But the family connection doesn’t stop there. We’re proud to work alongside the fourth generation of Williams leadership—George Williams’s sons, George Jr. and Nick. George Jr. serves as VP of Operations and General Manager of Floor Coatings by A.G. Williams, and Nick is our Production Manager for the floor division. Their energy, leadership, and dedication have helped propel the company forward in so many ways.

Celebrating a legacy of quality and leadership, A.G. Williams is honored for small business excellence.

George Jr. has made some transformative changes over the last few years, including:

  • Overhauling our employee handbook
  • Developing a comprehensive safety program
  • Launching Floor Coatings by A.G. Williams in 2018, which has now completed over 2,500 projects
  • Leading ongoing professional development and training programs for our crews

His hard work and vision were recognized this year when he received the 2024 BCW 40 Under 40 Award—a proud moment for the family and our company.

Nick plays a critical role in day-to-day operations, managing logistics, crew coordination, training, and materials. He also oversees our fleet of more than 30 vehicles. His attention to detail ensures that projects are executed seamlessly and with the professionalism our clients have come to expect.

Our VP of Sales and Marketing, Paul Viggiano, has quite literally grown up with A.G. Williams Painting Company. His mother, Nancy, served as George Sr.’s trusted bookkeeper, and Paul was a familiar face around the office before he could even walk. His first official job came in high school, helping with customer mailings and typing proposals. From there, through college and beyond, Paul stayed connected to the company—and after graduating, he joined the team full-time. Since then, he’s risen through the ranks, playing a key role in ushering A.G. Williams into a new era of technology, innovation, and growth. His leadership and dedication have been instrumental in helping drive the company’s sales into the eight-figure range, all while staying true to the family values that built this business.

Paul was also a recipient of the 40 Under 40 Award through the BCW in 2017.

We’re also proud to say that 15 of our team members have family members working here, including one crew made up entirely of a husband, wife, and their two sons. That kind of loyalty and unity is what makes our company more than a workplace—it makes it a family.

Strengthening Our Team

As we continue to grow, we’re committed to bringing in experienced professionals who help us get better every day. In 2024, we made several important hires:

  • Paul McNeil, our Director of Safety, joined us with experience from OSHA, Insperity, and the U.S. Postal Service. Paul has taken our safety programs to the next level and plays a huge role in training our crews to work smarter and safer.
  • PJ Matys, our Marketing Manager, brings a fresh perspective to our branding and digital strategy. She’s also helping lead our community initiatives—most notably, our Williams Wagon.
  • Derek Vincent, a seasoned Commercial Estimator, joined us in mid-2024 and is helping drive the continued growth of our commercial division, which now represents more than 60% of our revenue.

With over 80 full-time painters, many of whom have been with us for 10, 15—even 20 years—we’re proud of our high retention rates and reputation as a great place to work.

Introducing: The Williams Wagon

In the second quarter of 2025, we launched something that’s very close to our hearts—the Williams Wagon. This is our newest community outreach program, and it provides free painting and light carpentry services to local nonprofit organizations that serve children and veterans.

Our goal is to beautify and refresh spaces that make a difference—whether it’s a playroom, a community center, or a gathering space for veterans. We’ve always believed in giving back.

Over the years, we’ve supported organizations like:

  • Boys and Girls Club of New Rochelle
  • Pelham Art Center
  • Family Services of Westchester – Junior League
  • Westhab

With the Williams Wagon, we’re continuing that legacy. If you know of a deserving nonprofit that could use a fresh coat of paint, you can nominate them here.

Strategic Growth Through Innovation

We’ve come a long way since 1906, but we’ve never stopped evolving. We’ve faced many challenges over the years—from recessions to a pandemic—but we’ve always met them with innovation and strategic thinking.

Some of the ways we’re building a smarter, stronger business include:

  • Developing customized training programs to attract and retain skilled workers
  • Holding weekly leadership and safety meetings with our crews
  • Investing in a dedicated HR department
  • Implementing a hybrid work model to reduce emissions and increase flexibility
  • Enhancing our digital marketing efforts to reach more homeowners and businesses

We’re also focused on sustainability. We’ve:

  • Transitioned to low-VOC paints and non-oil-based products
  • Switched to LED lighting in our offices
  • Donated all unused paint to local causes
  • Adopted a “do not idle” rule for our trucks
  • Digitized our back office, reducing paper usage by 75%
  • Partnered with Veolia North America for responsible disposal of paint waste

All these efforts help us reduce our environmental footprint and contribute to a more sustainable future.

A Company That Gives Back

Service has always been part of our identity. Whether it’s coaching Little League, volunteering for EMS, or supporting local schools and charities, our team is deeply involved in the community.

Here are just a few of the organizations and causes we’ve supported:

  • Support Connection
  • Pelham Civic Association
  • Locks of Love
  • Northern Westchester Community Center
  • Her Haven
  • Shriner’s Hospital for Children
  • Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church
  • AHEPA – New Rochelle Chapter

We’ve also donated “painter for a day” gift certificates to local fundraisers and raffles—offering our services as a way to support schools, youth sports teams, and community centers.

We’re proud that our team lives these values every day. George Jr. volunteers with Iona Prep Baseball, and Nick spent several years as a volunteer EMT in Fordham and Pleasantville.

Looking Ahead

Winning the 2025 Small Business Award is not just a moment of celebration for us—it’s a reflection of the path we’ve traveled, and a preview of where we’re headed. With strong family leadership, a skilled and dedicated team, and a heart for community service, we’re excited for what’s next.

We’re not just painting homes and businesses—we’re building something that lasts. We’re honored to serve our clients across Bronx, Dutchess, Putnam, Rockland, and Westchester Counties in NY, and Fairfield County, CT, and we look forward to continuing to earn your trust for generations to come.

Thank you for being part of our story.
